What Bartimaeus is

Bartimaeus is a personal AI agent. It runs in the cloud, you control it from your phone or any browser, and it works through accounts you already use — email, calendar, tasks and notes.

Your agent is not a chatbot that stops at advice. It can read, draft, sort and re-organise inside your own apps, and it asks for your approval before anything sensitive happens. You bring your own AI key, so the model bill stays yours; the agent is the only thing you pay us for.

What it does

  • Works in your apps. Gmail (read and draft only), Google Calendar, Google Drive and Photos, Todoist, Notion and messaging channels. The browser tool covers the sites without an API, such as deliveries, supermarkets and bookings, on paid plans.
  • Runs skills on a schedule. A morning brief before you wake, a task list re-ordered around what is actually due, a trip inbox sorted before you pack. You can build your own and run them on your own routine.
  • Asks before it acts. Read-only by default, drafts until you tap send, an approval card for sensitive actions, and a receipt for what it did. The safety model is the heart of the product, not a settings page.

How you use it

Three surfaces, one agent:

  1. Chat. You type a request in plain English. Your agent replies with a plan, works through it, and shows what it did.
  2. Approvals. When a step needs your permission, the run pauses and you are notified. One tap to approve or deny.
  3. Receipts. Every action leaves a plain record — what was asked, what happened, what changed — in the conversation where it happened, so nothing is a mystery later.

Your own AI key

Bartimaeus thinks with a model. You connect your own provider key — from OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek or others — and the model bill goes to your provider account at your provider's price. Your key is stored encrypted and never shown to the model. This is why Premium can be a flat price instead of a bundle: there are no token meters and no per-run fees on our side. What Bartimaeus is not

  • Not always on. Sessions exist only while work is happening — your prompt, a scheduled run, or a trigger — and they stop when the work is done. Your agent is always available and wakes in under a second, but it is never sitting in the background burning time or money. That is a design guarantee, not a limitation.
  • Not a model. We do not make or bundle an AI model. Bartimaeus brings the doing; your key brings the thinking.
  • Not software on your computer. Nothing is installed to run the agent. It works in the cloud and never runs software on your machine.
  • Not an open toolbox. Your agent can only use the tools it has been given — a curated set that includes the apps you connect. It cannot run arbitrary code or wander off its patch.
  • Not for everything. It will not promise to run your life unattended. You approve anything sensitive, and you are in charge of what you approve.
  • Not everywhere yet. Bartimaeus is currently offered in the United Kingdom and is not currently offered to users in the EU. See the Terms of Service for the full list of supported countries.

What it costs

The Free plan is £0: 30 minutes of active compute a month, your own key, write access through the same approval process as paid — no scheduled runs, no browser tool. Premium is £5.00 a month on the web (£5.99 on the App Store), or £50 a year on the web (£59.99 on the App Store — two months free). The plans page sets it out in full.
