Create your account¶
Bartimaeus is currently in a closed beta. You join with an email address that has been added to the beta list — usually because you joined the waitlist and your spot opened, or because someone on the team invited you. There is nothing to install and no password to choose.
Before you start¶
- You need an invite. During the closed beta, only email addresses on the list can sign in. If you are not on it yet, join the waitlist at bartimaeus.app — closed-beta places go to waitlist members first.
- You must be 18 or over. Creating an account requires confirming this, and the confirmation is enforced at signup.
- Where Bartimaeus is available. The service is currently offered in the United Kingdom; it is not currently offered to users in the EU. The Terms of Service carry the current list of supported countries.
Signing in¶
Sign-in is by email link — no password to remember, and nothing for anyone to steal from a password list.
- Open go.bartimaeus.app in your browser.
- Enter the email address your invite was sent to, and request the sign-in link.
- Check that inbox. The email contains a one-time link; open it and you are signed in.
A few honest details:
- The link is single-use and expires after a short window. If it has gone stale, request a new one — there is no penalty for asking again.
- The address must match the list. The gate is exact (case does not
matter, so
Tester@Example.comandtester@example.comare the same person). A different address will not be signed in. - If you see "Bartimaeus is in closed beta." the address you typed is not on the list. Try the address your invite went to, or use the waitlist link on that screen.
- If the email has not arrived, check the spam folder first, then request another link. See Troubleshooting for the full checklist.
On your phone¶
Bartimaeus runs in any modern browser, on a phone or a computer. On an iPhone, you can add it to your home screen so it behaves like an app and can send you notifications:
- Open go.bartimaeus.app in Safari.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Open Bartimaeus from its new home-screen icon and allow notifications when asked (iOS 16.4 or later is required for notifications).
A native iPhone app is in development. There is no date to promise yet, and nothing about the browser version stops working when it arrives.
What happens to your email address¶
Your address is your account: it is how you sign in, and where service emails about your account are sent. How your address and other personal data are handled is set out in the Privacy Policy — the same policy that applies to everything else in the product.
